Writing the Sacred: A Psalm-Writing workshop

As a veteran workshop leader, Ray McGinnis brings a splendid range of writing exercises to spark your imagination. At this workshop, come play with words, come nurture your spirit as you learn ways to make your own new psalms. Explore how Psalm writing can deepen self-understanding, expand self-expression, personal and spiritual growth. Ray offers a splendid range of Psalm excerpts along with other poets who have glimpsed the sacred in the ordinary through writing. Ray brings to this workshop simple step-by-step journal writing and poetry exercises to help you write a new psalm with ease. Come and explore the thin spaces where reflective writing and spirituality meet. This workshop is designed for both those who enjoy writing and those who have never put pen to paper. This is a workshop open to older children, youth and adults. Come and discover how God is still speaking.

Ray will also offer a workshop for PRISM members and anyone else interested at 6:00 PM after church entitled: ??Writing for Our Lives?

Writing for Our Lives

It is no secret that writing thoughts and feelings down in a notebook or journal builds bridges to inner strength, self-understanding and self-awareness. Writing poetry is also another way to access clarity and healing. Poetry is simply speaking the truth. Each of us has a truth as unique as our own fingerprints. Without knowing our truth, without speaking it aloud, it is harder to know who we are and perceive our own wholeness. In this workshop author and writing workshop facilitator, Ray McGinnis, offers several writing exercises through both journal writing and poetry as keys to help you support your life and personal growth. Come and join others in a safe environment as you honor your own journey in your awareness of what it means to be a sexual, loving, human being.

Ray McGinnis is author of Writing the Sacred. A published poet, he is an international presenter leading writing workshops to invite participants to creatively express themselves in ways that are both freeing and authentic.? He lives in Vancouver, Canada. His website is http://www.writetotheheart.com/

Please sign up for this workshop on the list at church or by emailing Susie at clemsonucc@gmail.com, if you plan to attend so that we will have adequate food prepared for dinner.
